START A NEW EWGA-CANADA CHAPTER
EWGA-Canada Membership Levels
Here are the three levels of memberships that enable women
to become part of EWGA-Canada.
EWGA-Canada Chapter
A Chapter is an incorporated organization with a minimum
of 25 members. Chapters have a board composed of a president,
vice president, secretary, treasurer, and the following
chairs: communications, membership, education, course/league
play and sponsorship.
Chapters must submit annual business plans and financial
statements, carry necessary insurance, and adhere to the
bylaws of EWGA-Canada. These tasks are made relatively
simple based on the templates and expertise of the EWGA-Canada board.
In addition, all Chapters must host an annual chapter championship.
All Chapters have representation on the EWGA-Canada board.
“Chapter-ship” permits an organization to seek
sponsorship and, through the power of member numbers, increase
its chances to successfully negotiate special prices for
their members for golf and for other golf-related opportunities.
In addition to local sponsorship, all Chapters receive the
benefits of EWGA-Canada national sponsors and must adhere
to the national sponsor requirements.
EWGA-Canada Wing
A Wing is a Chapter in the making. It has nine to 25 EWGA-Canada members and is managed by a co-ordinator and an
assistant co-ordinator. The co-ordinator organizes golfing
events for her Wing and liaises with the EWGA-Canada board.
As soon as a Wing registers nine EWGA-Canada members or
designates nine existing EWGA members to be part of their
group, their Wing name will be listed on the membership
page to encourage future members. (Wings may not be formed
to the detriment of other Wings or Chapters.)
A Wing reports directly to the EWGA-Canada board. EWGA
Canada sends news flashes to Wing members including them
in any golf-related events or opportunities that may be
of interest to them, including EWGA national and international
events. In addition, the board will notify the co-ordinator
of any new members in their area.
A Wing membership provides opportunities for members to:
-
meet and network with women in their area
-
increase local and regional opportunities for scheduled
play
-
take advantage of discounts and services provided by
the national and international organizations
-
be involved in the growth of women’s golf in
Canada
All members of a Wing have visiting rights to play with
a Chapter and may play in one Chapter Championship of their
choice annually. All EWGA-Canada Wing members will receive
member pricing at events sponsored by EWGA, EWGA-Canada,
and Chapter events.
As soon as a Wing reaches a membership of 25, it can become
an official EWGA-Canada Chapter. Assistance will be given
to help it to incorporate and to meet Chapter legal requirements.
EWGA Eagle
An Eagle is an EWGA-Canada member who does not have access
to a Chapter or a Wing in their geographic area. They receive
the same benefits all EWGA members and have visiting rights
to play with any Chapter or Wing.
Eagles are informed by EWGA-Canada of any other Eagle
in their area with the hope that eventually they will be
able to form a Wing.
An Eagle may play in one Chapter Championship of choice
once a year.
Whether you are in a Chapter or Wing or are an Eagle, membership
fees are the same. For more information on the specific
benefits on becoming a member of the EWGA visit Member
Benefits
Note: Members must accept the category of their geographic
area. For example, if there is a Chapter or Wing nearby,
a member cannot choose an Eagle status.
