2016 Canada Cup

Join us at prestigious Glen Abbey Golf Club for a day of friendly competition, camaraderie and style as only EWGA Canada ladies can provide!  With the club having been sold for development, this is one of the last opportunities we'll have to play this wonderful Jack Nicklaus course, host of so many Canadian Open tournaments.

Play will be in teams of 2 - please indicate your playing partner's name in the comment section when you register.  If you don't have a playing partner yet, just note that and we'll pair you up.  Want to play with someone from another chapter?  Not to worry, inter-chapter fraternization is encouraged, so sign up!  Teams may include a guest however please note that guest registration will not open until May 25.

Map Directions

Competition Format

  • Teams of 2 players
  • 6 holes each of better ball, scramble and modified alternate shot
  • Each 6-hole segment will be handicapped based on RCGA/USGA guidelines
  • Teams with more than an 8 stroke differential will have their handicaps adjusted (see below)
  • Don't worry - full competition details will be provided at the event and score-cards will be pre-marked with the correct handicap factor for each player and segment

    Prizes will be awarded for

  • First, second and third overall low (net) score for the 18-hole competition
  • Winner in the non-handicap division (gross score)

If you've started tracking your scores and do now have a handicap, but are uncertain about playing in competitive events, this is a great way to get your feet wet.  Adjusted tournament handicaps will apply, to a course maximum handicap of 42 - don't worry, we'll calculate the course handicap for you and it will be marked on your scorecard when you head out to play.  Because of the format, this round won't count for official handicap purposes.  Don't yet have a handicap?  Don't worry! You'll be eligible for the non-handicap division.

Handicap Differential

If the differential between team members' handicaps is more than 8 strokes, then both handicaps will be reduced by 10% to provide equity to the field.  This approach doesn't penalize the player with the higher handicap in the way that a simple cap would.

Guests are welcome, but must be partnered with a member.  If the guest does not have a handicap, then that team will be playing in the non-handicap division.  Registration for guests will open on May 26, to provide an opportunity for members to register first.

Dinner Options

The golf tournament will be followed by a 3-course, plated dinner in the clubhouse.  Please note that while we have requested both fish and poultry options, we may only be provided with one of these two.  Please indicate your preference when registering but understand that there may be only one non-vegetarian meal choice on the evening.  There is a vegetarian/gluten-free meal option.
